1:1神と主イエス・キリストとの僕ヤコブから、離散している十二部族の人々へ、あいさつをおくる。		1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Dispersion: Greetings.
1:2わたしの兄弟たちよ。あなたがたが、いろいろな試錬に会った場合、それをむしろ非常に喜ばしいことと思いなさい。		1:2 Count it all joy, my brothers {The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."}, when you fall into various temptations,
1:3あなたがたの知っているとおり、信仰がためされることによって、忍耐が生み出されるからである。		1:3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
1:4だから、なんら欠点のない、完全な、でき上がった人となるように、その忍耐力を十分に働かせるがよい。		1:4 Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
1:5あなたがたのうち、知恵に不足している者があれば、その人は、とがめもせずに惜しみなくすべての人に与える神に、願い求めるがよい。そうすれば、与えられるであろう。		1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.
1:6ただ、疑わないで、信仰をもって願い求めなさい。疑う人は、風の吹くままに揺れ動く海の波に似ている。		1:6 But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
1:7そういう人は、主から何かをいただけるもののように思うべきではない。		1:7 For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord.
1:8そんな人間は、二心の者であって、そのすべての行動に安定がない。		1:8 He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
1:9低い身分の兄弟は、自分が高くされたことを喜びなさい。		1:9 But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position;
1:10また、富んでいる者は、自分が低くされたことを喜ぶがよい。富んでいる者は、草花のように過ぎ去るからである。		1:10 and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.
1:11たとえば、太陽が上って熱風をおくると、草を枯らす。そしてその花は落ち、その美しい姿は消えうせてしまう。それと同じように、富んでいる者も、その一生の旅なかばで没落するであろう。		1:11 For the sun arises with the scorching wind, and withers the grass, and the flower in it falls, and the beauty of its appearance perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in his pursuits.
1:12試錬を耐え忍ぶ人は、さいわいである。それを忍びとおしたなら、神を愛する者たちに約束されたいのちの冠を受けるであろう。		1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.
1:13だれでも誘惑に会う場合、「この誘惑は、神からきたものだ」と言ってはならない。神は悪の誘惑に陥るようなかたではなく、また自ら進んで人を誘惑することもなさらない。		1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God," for God can't be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one.
1:14人が誘惑に陥るのは、それぞれ、欲に引かれ、さそわれるからである。		1:14 But each one is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed.
1:15欲がはらんで罪を生み、罪が熟して死を生み出す。		1:15 Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.
1:16愛する兄弟たちよ。思い違いをしてはいけない。		1:16 Don't be deceived, my beloved brothers.
1:17あらゆる良い贈り物、あらゆる完全な賜物は、上から、光の父から下って来る。父には、変化とか回転の影とかいうものはない。		1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow.
1:18父は、わたしたちを、いわば被造物の初穂とするために、真理の言葉によって御旨のままに、生み出して下さったのである。		1:18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.
1:19愛する兄弟たちよ。このことを知っておきなさい。人はすべて、聞くに早く、語るにおそく、怒るにおそくあるべきである。		1:19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger;
1:20人の怒りは、神の義を全うするものではないからである。		1:20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God.
1:21だから、すべての汚れや、はなはだしい悪を捨て去って、心に植えつけられている御言を、すなおに受け入れなさい。御言には、あなたがたのたましいを救う力がある。		1:21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls {or, preserve your life.}.
1:22そして、御言を行う人になりなさい。おのれを欺いて、ただ聞くだけの者となってはいけない。		1:22 But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.
1:23おおよそ御言を聞くだけで行わない人は、ちょうど、自分の生れつきの顔を鏡に映して見る人のようである。		1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror;
1:24彼は自分を映して見てそこから立ち去ると、そのとたんに、自分の姿がどんなであったかを忘れてしまう。		1:24 for he sees himself, and goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
1:25これに反して、完全な自由の律法を一心に見つめてたゆまない人は、聞いて忘れてしまう人ではなくて、実際に行う人である。こういう人は、その行いによって祝福される。		1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom, and continues, not being a hearer who forgets, but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does.
1:26もし人が信心深い者だと自任しながら、舌を制することをせず、自分の心を欺いているならば、その人の信心はむなしいものである。		1:26 If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn't bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man's religion is worthless.
1:27父なる神のみまえに清く汚れのない信心とは、困っている孤児や、やもめを見舞い、自らは世の汚れに染まずに、身を清く保つことにほかならない。		1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
2:1わたしの兄弟たちよ。わたしたちの栄光の主イエス・キリストへの信仰を守るのに、分け隔てをしてはならない。		2:1 My brothers, don't hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ of glory with partiality.
2:2たとえば、あなたがたの会堂に、金の指輪をはめ、りっぱな着物を着た人がはいって来ると同時に、みすぼらしい着物を着た貧しい人がはいってきたとする。		2:2 For if a man with a gold ring, in fine clothing, comes into your synagogue {or, meeting}, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in;
2:3その際、りっぱな着物を着た人に対しては、うやうやしく「どうぞ、こちらの良い席にお掛け下さい」と言い、貧しい人には、「あなたは、そこに立っていなさい。それとも、わたしの足もとにすわっているがよい」と言ったとしたら、		2:3 and you pay special attention to him who wears the fine clothing, and say, "Sit here in a good place"; and you tell the poor man, "Stand there," or "Sit by my footstool";
2:4あなたがたは、自分たちの間で差別立てをし、よからぬ考えで人をさばく者になったわけではないか。		2:4 haven't you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts?
2:5愛する兄弟たちよ。よく聞きなさい。神は、この世の貧しい人たちを選んで信仰に富ませ、神を愛する者たちに約束された御国の相続者とされたではないか。		2:5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn't God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him?
2:6しかるに、あなたがたは貧しい人をはずかしめたのである。あなたがたをしいたげ、裁判所に引きずり込むのは、富んでいる者たちではないか。		2:6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Don't the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?
2:7あなたがたに対して唱えられた尊い御名を汚すのは、実に彼らではないか。		2:7 Don't they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called?
2:8しかし、もしあなたがたが、「自分を愛するように、あなたの隣り人を愛せよ」という聖書の言葉に従って、このきわめて尊い律法を守るならば、それは良いことである。		2:8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," {Leviticus 19:18} you do well.
2:9しかし、もし分け隔てをするならば、あなたがたは罪を犯すことになり、律法によって違反者として宣告される。		2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors.
2:10なぜなら、律法をことごとく守ったとしても、その一つの点にでも落ち度があれば、全体を犯したことになるからである。		2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
2:11たとえば、「姦淫するな」と言われたかたは、また「殺すな」とも仰せになった。そこで、たとい姦淫はしなくても、人殺しをすれば、律法の違反者になったことになる。		2:11 For he who said, "Do not commit adultery," {Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 5:18} also said, "Do not commit murder." {Exodus 10:13; Deuteronomy 5:17} Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law.
2:12だから、自由の律法によってさばかるべき者らしく語り、かつ行いなさい。		2:12 So speak, and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom.
2:13あわれみを行わなかった者に対しては、仮借のないさばきが下される。あわれみは、さばきにうち勝つ。		2:13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
2:14わたしの兄弟たちよ。ある人が自分には信仰があると称していても、もし行いがなかったら、なんの役に立つか。その信仰は彼を救うことができるか。		2:14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him?
2:15ある兄弟または姉妹が裸でいて、その日の食物にもこと欠いている場合、		2:15 And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food,
2:16あなたがたのうち、だれかが、「安らかに行きなさい。暖まって、食べ飽きなさい」と言うだけで、そのからだに必要なものを何ひとつ与えなかったとしたら、なんの役に立つか。		2:16 and one of you tells them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled"; and yet you didn't give them the things the body needs, what good is it?
2:17信仰も、それと同様に、行いを伴わなければ、それだけでは死んだものである。		2:17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.
2:18しかし、「ある人には信仰があり、またほかの人には行いがある」と言う者があろう。それなら、行いのないあなたの信仰なるものを見せてほしい。そうしたら、わたしの行いによって信仰を見せてあげよう。		2:18 Yes, a man will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without works, and I by my works will show you my faith.
2:19あなたは、神はただひとりであると信じているのか。それは結構である。悪霊どもでさえ、信じておののいている。		2:19 You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder.
2:20ああ、愚かな人よ。行いを伴わない信仰のむなしいことを知りたいのか。		2:20 But do you want to know, vain man, that faith apart from works is dead?
2:21わたしたちの父祖アブラハムは、その子イサクを祭壇にささげた時、行いによって義とされたのではなかったか。		2:21 Wasn't Abraham our father justified by works, in that he offered up Isaac his son on the altar?
2:22あなたが知っているとおり、彼においては、信仰が行いと共に働き、その行いによって信仰が全うされ、		2:22 You see that faith worked with his works, and by works faith was perfected;
2:23こうして、「アブラハムは神を信じた。それによって、彼は義と認められた」という聖書の言葉が成就し、そして、彼は「神の友」と唱えられたのである。		2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness"; {Genesis 15:6} and he was called the friend of God.
2:24これでわかるように、人が義とされるのは、行いによるのであって、信仰だけによるのではない。		2:24 You see then that by works, a man is justified, and not only by faith.
2:25同じように、かの遊女ラハブでさえも、使者たちをもてなし、彼らを別な道から送り出した時、行いによって義とされたではないか。		2:25 In the same way, wasn't Rahab the prostitute also justified by works, in that she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?
2:26霊魂のないからだが死んだものであると同様に、行いのない信仰も死んだものなのである。		2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.
3:1わたしの兄弟たちよ。あなたがたのうち多くの者は、教師にならないがよい。わたしたち教師が、他の人たちよりも、もっときびしいさばきを受けることが、よくわかっているからである。		3:1 Let not many of you be teachers, my brothers, knowing that we will receive heavier judgment.
3:2わたしたちは皆、多くのあやまちを犯すものである。もし、言葉の上であやまちのない人があれば、そういう人は、全身をも制御することのできる完全な人である。		3:2 For in many things we all stumble. If anyone doesn't stumble in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also.
3:3馬を御するために、その口にくつわをはめるなら、その全身を引きまわすことができる。		3:3 Indeed, we put bits into the horses' mouths so that they may obey us, and we guide their whole body.
3:4また船を見るがよい。船体が非常に大きく、また激しい風に吹きまくられても、ごく小さなかじ一つで、操縦者の思いのままに運転される。		3:4 Behold, the ships also, though they are so big and are driven by fierce winds, are yet guided by a very small rudder, wherever the pilot desires.
3:5それと同じく、舌は小さな器官ではあるが、よく大言壮語する。見よ、ごく小さな火でも、非常に大きな森を燃やすではないか。		3:5 So the tongue is also a little member, and boasts great things. See how a small fire can spread to a large forest!
3:6舌は火である。不義の世界である。舌は、わたしたちの器官の一つとしてそなえられたものであるが、全身を汚し、生存の車輪を燃やし、自らは地獄の火で焼かれる。		3:6 And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna. {or, Hell}
3:7あらゆる種類の獣、鳥、這うもの、海の生物は、すべて人類に制せられるし、また制せられてきた。		3:7 For every kind of animal, bird, creeping thing, and thing in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind.
3:8ところが、舌を制しうる人は、ひとりもいない。それは、制しにくい悪であって、死の毒に満ちている。		3:8 But nobody can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
3:9わたしたちは、この舌で父なる主をさんびし、また、その同じ舌で、神にかたどって造られた人間をのろっている。		3:9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the image of God.
3:10同じ口から、さんびとのろいとが出て来る。わたしの兄弟たちよ。このような事は、あるべきでない。		3:10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
3:11泉が、甘い水と苦い水とを、同じ穴からふき出すことがあろうか。		3:11 Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water?
3:12わたしの兄弟たちよ。いちじくの木がオリブの実を結び、ぶどうの木がいちじくの実を結ぶことができようか。塩水も、甘い水を出すことはできない。		3:12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water.
3:13あなたがたのうちで、知恵があり物わかりのよい人は、だれであるか。その人は、知恵にかなう柔和な行いをしていることを、よい生活によって示すがよい。		3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
3:14しかし、もしあなたがたの心の中に、苦々しいねたみや党派心をいだいているのなら、誇り高ぶってはならない。また、真理にそむいて偽ってはならない。		3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.
3:15そのような知恵は、上から下ってきたものではなくて、地につくもの、肉に属するもの、悪魔的なものである。		3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
3:16ねたみと党派心とのあるところには、混乱とあらゆる忌むべき行為とがある。		3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
3:17しかし上からの知恵は、第一に清く、次に平和、寛容、温順であり、あわれみと良い実とに満ち、かたより見ず、偽りがない。		3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
3:18義の実は、平和を造り出す人たちによって、平和のうちにまかれるものである。		3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
4:1あなたがたの中の戦いや争いは、いったい、どこから起るのか。それはほかではない。あなたがたの肢体の中で相戦う欲情からではないか。		4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members?
4:2あなたがたは、むさぼるが得られない。そこで人殺しをする。熱望するが手に入れることができない。そこで争い戦う。あなたがたは、求めないから得られないのだ。		4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask.
4:3求めても与えられないのは、快楽のために使おうとして、悪い求め方をするからだ。		4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.
4:4不貞のやからよ。世を友とするのは、神への敵対であることを、知らないか。おおよそ世の友となろうと思う者は、自らを神の敵とするのである。		4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
4:5それとも、「神は、わたしたちの内に住まわせた霊を、ねたむほどに愛しておられる」と聖書に書いてあるのは、むなしい言葉だと思うのか。		4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"?
4:6しかし神は、いや増しに恵みを賜う。であるから、「神は高ぶる者をしりぞけ、へりくだる者に恵みを賜う」とある。		4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." {Proverbs 3:34}
4:7そういうわけだから、神に従いなさい。そして、悪魔に立ちむかいなさい。そうすれば、彼はあなたがたから逃げ去るであろう。		4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
4:8神に近づきなさい。そうすれば、神はあなたがたに近づいて下さるであろう。罪人どもよ、手をきよめよ。二心の者どもよ、心を清くせよ。		4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
4:9苦しめ、悲しめ、泣け。あなたがたの笑いを悲しみに、喜びを憂いに変えよ。		4:9 Lament, mourn, and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to gloom.
4:10主のみまえにへりくだれ。そうすれば、主は、あなたがたを高くして下さるであろう。		4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
4:11兄弟たちよ。互に悪口を言い合ってはならない。兄弟の悪口を言ったり、自分の兄弟をさばいたりする者は、律法をそしり、律法をさばくやからである。もしあなたが律法をさばくなら、律法の実行者ではなくて、その審判者なのである。		4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
4:12しかし、立法者であり審判者であるかたは、ただひとりであって、救うことも滅ぼすこともできるのである。しかるに、隣り人をさばくあなたは、いったい、何者であるか。		4:12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
4:13よく聞きなさい。「きょうか、あす、これこれの町へ行き、そこに一か年滞在し、商売をして一もうけしよう」と言う者たちよ。		4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow let's go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit."
4:14あなたがたは、あすのこともわからぬ身なのだ。あなたがたのいのちは、どんなものであるか。あなたがたは、しばしの間あらわれて、たちまち消え行く霧にすぎない。		4:14 Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
4:15むしろ、あなたがたは「主のみこころであれば、わたしは生きながらえもし、あの事この事もしよう」と言うべきである。		4:15 For you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that."
4:16ところが、あなたがたは誇り高ぶっている。このような高慢は、すべて悪である。		4:16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.
4:17人が、なすべき善を知りながら行わなければ、それは彼にとって罪である。		4:17 To him therefore who knows to do good, and doesn't do it, to him it is sin.
5:1富んでいる人たちよ。よく聞きなさい。あなたがたは、自分の身に降りかかろうとしているわざわいを思って、泣き叫ぶがよい。		5:1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming on you.
5:2あなたがたの富は朽ち果て、着物はむしばまれ、		5:2 Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten.
5:3金銀はさびている。そして、そのさびの毒は、あなたがたの罪を責め、あなたがたの肉を火のように食いつくすであろう。あなたがたは、終りの時にいるのに、なお宝をたくわえている。		5:3 Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days.
5:4見よ、あなたがたが労働者たちに畑の刈入れをさせながら、支払わずにいる賃銀が、叫んでいる。そして、刈入れをした人たちの叫び声が、すでに万軍の主の耳に達している。		5:4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies {Greek: Sabaoth (for Hebrew: Tze'va'ot)}.
5:5あなたがたは、地上でおごり暮し、快楽にふけり、「ほふらるる日」のために、おのが心を肥やしている。		5:5 You have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
5:6そして、義人を罪に定め、これを殺した。しかも彼は、あなたがたに抵抗しない。		5:6 You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one. He doesn't resist you.
5:7だから、兄弟たちよ。主の来臨の時まで耐え忍びなさい。見よ、農夫は、地の尊い実りを、前の雨と後の雨とがあるまで、耐え忍んで待っている。		5:7 Be patient therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receives the early and late rain.
5:8あなたがたも、主の来臨が近づいているから、耐え忍びなさい。心を強くしていなさい。		5:8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
5:9兄弟たちよ。互に不平を言い合ってはならない。さばきを受けるかも知れないから。見よ、さばき主が、すでに戸口に立っておられる。		5:9 Don't grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won't be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.
5:10兄弟たちよ。苦しみを耐え忍ぶことについては、主の御名によって語った預言者たちを模範にするがよい。		5:10 Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
5:11忍び抜いた人たちはさいわいであると、わたしたちは思う。あなたがたは、ヨブの忍耐のことを聞いている。また、主が彼になさったことの結末を見て、主がいかに慈愛とあわれみとに富んだかたであるかが、わかるはずである。		5:11 Behold, we call them blessed who endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the Lord in the outcome, and how the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
5:12さて、わたしの兄弟たちよ。何はともあれ、誓いをしてはならない。天をさしても、地をさしても、あるいは、そのほかのどんな誓いによっても、いっさい誓ってはならない。むしろ、「しかり」を「しかり」とし、「否」を「否」としなさい。そうしないと、あなたがたは、さばきを受けることになる。		5:12 But above all things, my brothers, don't swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your "yes" be "yes," and your "no," "no"; so that you don't fall into hypocrisy. {TR reads "under judgment" instead of "into hypocrisy"}
5:13あなたがたの中に、苦しんでいる者があるか。その人は、祈るがよい。喜んでいる者があるか。その人は、さんびするがよい。		5:13 Is any among you suffering? Let him pray. Is any cheerful? Let him sing praises.
5:14あなたがたの中に、病んでいる者があるか。その人は、教会の長老たちを招き、主の御名によって、オリブ油を注いで祈ってもらうがよい。		5:14 Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord,
5:15信仰による祈は、病んでいる人を救い、そして、主はその人を立ちあがらせて下さる。かつ、その人が罪を犯していたなら、それもゆるされる。		5:15 and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
5:16だから、互に罪を告白し合い、また、いやされるようにお互のために祈りなさい。義人の祈は、大いに力があり、効果のあるものである。		5:16 Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.
5:17エリヤは、わたしたちと同じ人間であったが、雨が降らないようにと祈をささげたところ、三年六か月のあいだ、地上に雨が降らなかった。		5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn't rain on the earth for three years and six months.
5:18それから、ふたたび祈ったところ、天は雨を降らせ、地はその実をみのらせた。		5:18 He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.
5:19わたしの兄弟たちよ。あなたがたのうち、真理の道から踏み迷う者があり、だれかが彼を引きもどすなら、		5:19 Brothers, if any among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,
5:20かように罪人を迷いの道から引きもどす人は、そのたましいを死から救い出し、かつ、多くの罪をおおうものであることを、知るべきである。		5:20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.
