1:2信仰によるわたしの真実な子テモテへ。父なる神とわたしたちの主キリスト・イエスから、恵みとあわれみと平安とが、あなたにあるように。		1:2 to Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
1:3わたしがマケドニヤに向かって出発する際、頼んでおいたように、あなたはエペソにとどまっていて、ある人々に、違った教を説くことをせず、		1:3 As I urged you when I was going into Macedonia, stay at Ephesus that you might command certain men not to teach a different doctrine,
1:4作り話やはてしのない系図などに気をとられることもないように、命じなさい。そのようなことは信仰による神の務を果すものではなく、むしろ論議を引き起させるだけのものである。		1:4 neither to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes, rather than God's stewardship, which is in faith--
1:5わたしのこの命令は、清い心と正しい良心と偽りのない信仰とから出てくる愛を目標としている。		1:5 but the goal of this command is love, out of a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith;
1:6ある人々はこれらのものからそれて空論に走り、		1:6 from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned aside to vain talking;
1:7律法の教師たることを志していながら、自分の言っていることも主張していることも、わからないでいる。		1:7 desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor about what they strongly affirm.
1:8わたしたちが知っているとおり、律法なるものは、法に従って用いるなら、良いものである。		1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man uses it lawfully,
1:9すなわち、律法は正しい人のために定められたのではなく、不法な者と法に服さない者、不信心な者と罪ある者、神聖を汚す者と俗悪な者、父を殺す者と母を殺す者、人を殺す者、		1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1:10不品行な者、男色をする者、誘かいする者、偽る者、偽り誓う者、そのほか健全な教にもとることがあれば、そのために定められていることを認むべきである。		1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;
1:11これは、祝福に満ちた神の栄光の福音が示すところであって、わたしはこの福音をゆだねられているのである。		1:11 according to the Good News of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
1:12わたしは、自分を強くして下さったわたしたちの主キリスト・イエスに感謝する。主はわたしを忠実な者と見て、この務に任じて下さったのである。		1:12 And I thank him who enabled me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he counted me faithful, appointing me to service;
1:13わたしは以前には、神をそしる者、迫害する者、不遜な者であった。しかしわたしは、これらの事を、信仰がなかったとき、無知なためにしたのだから、あわれみをこうむったのである。		1:13 although I was before a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. However, I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1:14その上、わたしたちの主の恵みが、キリスト・イエスにある信仰と愛とに伴い、ますます増し加わってきた。		1:14 The grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1:15「キリスト・イエスは、罪人を救うためにこの世にきて下さった」という言葉は、確実で、そのまま受けいれるに足るものである。わたしは、その罪人のかしらなのである。		1:15 The saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
1:16しかし、わたしがあわれみをこうむったのは、キリスト・イエスが、まずわたしに対して限りない寛容を示し、そして、わたしが今後、彼を信じて永遠のいのちを受ける者の模範となるためである。		1:16 However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all his patience, for an example of those who were going to believe in him for eternal life.
1:17世々の支配者、不朽にして見えざる唯一の神に、世々限りなく、ほまれと栄光とがあるように、アァメン。		1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1:18わたしの子テモテよ。以前あなたに対してなされた数々の預言の言葉に従って、この命令を与える。あなたは、これらの言葉に励まされて、信仰と正しい良心とを保ちながら、りっぱに戦いぬきなさい。		1:18 This instruction I commit to you, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to you, that by them you may wage the good warfare;
1:19ある人々は、正しい良心を捨てたため、信仰の破船に会った。		1:19 holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust away made a shipwreck concerning the faith;
1:20その中に、ヒメナオとアレキサンデルとがいる。わたしは、神を汚さないことを学ばせるため、このふたりをサタンの手に渡したのである。		1:20 of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I delivered to Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme.
2:1そこで、まず第一に勧める。すべての人のために、王たちと上に立っているすべての人々のために、願いと、祈と、とりなしと、感謝とをささげなさい。		2:1 I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men:
2:2それはわたしたちが、安らかで静かな一生を、真に信心深くまた謹厳に過ごすためである。		2:2 for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.
2:3これは、わたしたちの救主である神のみまえに良いことであり、また、みこころにかなうことである。		2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
2:4神は、すべての人が救われて、真理を悟るに至ることを望んでおられる。		2:4 who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth.
2:5神は唯一であり、神と人との間の仲保者もただひとりであって、それは人なるキリスト・イエスである。		2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
2:6彼は、すべての人のあがないとしてご自身をささげられたが、それは、定められた時になされたあかしにほかならない。		2:6 who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times;
2:7そのために、わたしは立てられて宣教者、使徒となり（わたしは真実を言っている、偽ってはいない）、また異邦人に信仰と真理とを教える教師となったのである。		2:7 to which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth in Christ, not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
2:8男は、怒ったり争ったりしないで、どんな場所でも、きよい手をあげて祈ってほしい。		2:8 I desire therefore that the men in every place pray, lifting up holy hands without anger and doubting.
2:9また、女はつつましい身なりをし、適度に慎み深く身を飾るべきであって、髪を編んだり、金や真珠をつけたり、高価な着物を着たりしてはいけない。		2:9 In the same way, that women also adorn themselves in decent clothing, with modesty and propriety; not just with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothing;
2:10むしろ、良いわざをもって飾りとすることが、信仰を言いあらわしている女に似つかわしい。		2:10 but (which becomes women professing godliness) with good works.
2:11女は静かにしていて、万事につけ従順に教を学ぶがよい。		2:11 Let a woman learn in quietness with all subjection.
2:12女が教えたり、男の上に立ったりすることを、わたしは許さない。むしろ、静かにしているべきである。		2:12 But I don't permit a woman to teach, nor to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness.
2:13なぜなら、アダムがさきに造られ、それからエバが造られたからである。		2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
2:14またアダムは惑わされなかったが、女は惑わされて、あやまちを犯した。		2:14 Adam wasn't deceived, but the woman, being deceived, has fallen into disobedience;
2:15しかし、女が慎み深く、信仰と愛と清さとを持ち続けるなら、子を産むことによって救われるであろう。		2:15 but she will be saved through her childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and sanctification with sobriety.
3:1「もし人が監督の職を望むなら、それは良い仕事を願うことである」とは正しい言葉である。		3:1 This is a faithful saying: if a man seeks the office of an overseer {or, superintendents, or bishops}, he desires a good work.
3:2さて、監督は、非難のない人で、ひとりの妻の夫であり、自らを制し、慎み深く、礼儀正しく、旅人をもてなし、よく教えることができ、		3:2 The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching;
3:3酒を好まず、乱暴でなく、寛容であって、人と争わず、金に淡泊で、		3:3 not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;
3:4自分の家をよく治め、謹厳であって、子供たちを従順な者に育てている人でなければならない。		3:4 one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;
3:5自分の家を治めることも心得ていない人が、どうして神の教会を預かることができようか。		3:5 (but if a man doesn't know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the assembly of God?)
3:6彼はまた、信者になって間もないものであってはならない。そうであると、高慢になって、悪魔と同じ審判を受けるかも知れない。		3:6 not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
3:7さらにまた、教会外の人々にもよく思われている人でなければならない。そうでないと、そしりを受け、悪魔のわなにかかるであろう。		3:7 Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.
3:8それと同様に、執事も謹厳であって、二枚舌を使わず、大酒を飲まず、利をむさぼらず、		3:8 Servants {or, Deacons.}, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for money;
3:9きよい良心をもって、信仰の奥義を保っていなければならない。		3:9 holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
3:10彼らはまず調べられて、不都合なことがなかったなら、それから執事の職につかすべきである。		3:10 Let them also first be tested; then let them serve {or, serve as deacons} if they are blameless.
3:11女たちも、同様に謹厳で、他人をそしらず、自らを制し、すべてのことに忠実でなければならない。		3:11 Their wives in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things.
3:12執事はひとりの妻の夫であって、子供と自分の家とをよく治める者でなければならない。		3:12 Let servants {or, deacons} be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
3:13執事の職をよくつとめた者は、良い地位を得、さらにキリスト・イエスを信じる信仰による、大いなる確信を得るであろう。		3:13 For those who have served well {or, served well as deacons} gain for themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
3:14わたしは、あなたの所にすぐ行きたいと望みながら、この手紙を書いている。		3:14 These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly;
3:15万一わたしが遅れる場合には、神の家でいかに生活すべきかを、あなたに知ってもらいたいからである。神の家というのは、生ける神の教会のことであって、それは真理の柱、真理の基礎なのである。		3:15 but if I wait long, that you may know how men ought to behave themselves in God's house, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
3:16確かに偉大なのは、この信心の奥義である、「キリストは肉において現れ、霊において義とせられ、御使たちに見られ、諸国民の間に伝えられ、世界の中で信じられ、栄光のうちに天に上げられた」。		3:16 Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: God was revealed in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.
4:1しかし、御霊は明らかに告げて言う。後の時になると、ある人々は、惑わす霊と悪霊の教とに気をとられて、信仰から離れ去るであろう。		4:1 But the Spirit says expressly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,
4:2それは、良心に焼き印をおされている偽り者の偽善のしわざである。		4:2 through the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;
4:3これらの偽り者どもは、結婚を禁じたり、食物を断つことを命じたりする。しかし食物は、信仰があり真理を認める者が、感謝して受けるようにと、神の造られたものである。		4:3 forbidding marriage and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
4:4神の造られたものは、みな良いものであって、感謝して受けるなら、何ひとつ捨てるべきものはない。		4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving.
4:5それらは、神の言と祈とによって、きよめられるからである。		4:5 For it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.
4:6これらのことを兄弟たちに教えるなら、あなたは、信仰の言葉とあなたの従ってきた良い教の言葉とに養われて、キリスト・イエスのよい奉仕者になるであろう。		4:6 If you instruct the brothers of these things, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which you have followed.
4:7しかし、俗悪で愚にもつかない作り話は避けなさい。信心のために自分を訓練しなさい。		4:7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables. Exercise yourself toward godliness.
4:8からだの訓練は少しは益するところがあるが、信心は、今のいのちと後の世のいのちとが約束されてあるので、万事に益となる。		4:8 For bodily exercise has some value, but godliness has value in all things, having the promise of the life which is now, and of that which is to come.
4:9これは確実で、そのまま受けいれるに足る言葉である。		4:9 This saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance.
4:10わたしたちは、このために労し苦しんでいる。それは、すべての人の救主、特に信じる者たちの救主なる生ける神に、望みを置いてきたからである。		4:10 For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we have set our trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
4:11これらの事を命じ、また教えなさい。		4:11 Command and teach these things.
4:12あなたは、年が若いために人に軽んじられてはならない。むしろ、言葉にも、行状にも、愛にも、信仰にも、純潔にも、信者の模範になりなさい。		4:12 Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.
4:13わたしがそちらに行く時まで、聖書を朗読することと、勧めをすることと、教えることとに心を用いなさい。		4:13 Until I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching.
4:14長老の按手を受けた時、預言によってあなたに与えられて内に持っている恵みの賜物を、軽視してはならない。		4:14 Don't neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the elders.
4:15すべての事にあなたの進歩があらわれるため、これらの事を実行し、それを励みなさい。		4:15 Be diligent in these things. Give yourself wholly to them, that your progress may be revealed to all.
4:16自分のことと教のこととに気をつけ、それらを常に努めなさい。そうすれば、あなたは、自分自身とあなたの教を聞く者たちとを、救うことになる。		4:16 Pay attention to yourself, and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
5:1老人をとがめてはいけない。むしろ父親に対するように、話してあげなさい。若い男には兄弟に対するように、		5:1 Don't rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brothers;
5:2年とった女には母親に対するように、若い女には、真に純潔な思いをもって、姉妹に対するように、勧告しなさい。		5:2 the elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity.
5:3やもめについては、真にたよりのないやもめたちを、よくしてあげなさい。		5:3 Honor widows who are widows indeed.
5:4やもめに子か孫かがある場合には、これらの者に、まず自分の家で孝養をつくし、親の恩に報いることを学ばせるべきである。それが、神のみこころにかなうことなのである。		5:4 But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towards their own family, and to repay their parents, for this is {TR adds "good and"} acceptable in the sight of God.
5:5真にたよりのない、ひとり暮しのやもめは、望みを神において、日夜、たえず願いと祈とに専心するが、		5:5 Now she who is a widow indeed, and desolate, has her hope set on God, and continues in petitions and prayers night and day.
5:6これに反して、みだらな生活をしているやもめは、生けるしかばねにすぎない。		5:6 But she who gives herself to pleasure is dead while she lives.
5:7これらのことを命じて、彼女たちを非難のない者としなさい。		5:7 Also command these things, that they may be without reproach.
5:8もしある人が、その親族を、ことに自分の家族をかえりみない場合には、その信仰を捨てたことになるのであって、不信者以上にわるい。		5:8 But if anyone doesn't provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
5:9やもめとして登録さるべき者は、六十歳以下のものではなくて、ひとりの夫の妻であった者、		5:9 Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,
5:10また子女をよく養育し、旅人をもてなし、聖徒の足を洗い、困っている人を助け、種々の善行に努めるなど、そのよいわざでひろく認められている者でなければならない。		5:10 being approved by good works, if she has brought up children, if she has been hospitable to strangers, if she has washed the saints' feet, if she has relieved the afflicted, and if she has diligently followed every good work.
5:11若いやもめは除外すべきである。彼女たちがキリストにそむいて気ままになると、結婚をしたがるようになり、		5:11 But refuse younger widows, for when they have grown wanton against Christ, they desire to marry;
5:12初めの誓いを無視したという非難を受けねばならないからである。		5:12 having condemnation, because they have rejected their first pledge.
5:13その上、彼女たちはなまけていて、家々を遊び歩くことをおぼえ、なまけるばかりか、むだごとをしゃべって、いたずらに動きまわり、口にしてはならないことを言う。		5:13 Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.
5:14そういうわけだから、若いやもめは結婚して子を産み、家をおさめ、そして、反対者にそしられるすきを作らないようにしてほしい。		5:14 I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for insulting.
5:15彼女たちのうちには、サタンのあとを追って道を踏みはずした者もある。		5:15 For already some have turned aside after Satan.
5:16女の信者が家にやもめを持っている場合には、自分でそのやもめの世話をしてあげなさい。教会のやっかいになってはいけない。教会は、真にたよりのないやもめの世話をしなければならない。		5:16 If any man or woman who believes has widows, let them relieve them, and don't let the assembly be burdened; that it might relieve those who are widows indeed.
5:17よい指導をしている長老、特に宣教と教とのために労している長老は、二倍の尊敬を受けるにふさわしい者である。		5:17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching.
5:18聖書は、「穀物をこなしている牛に、くつこをかけてはならない」また「働き人がその報酬を受けるのは当然である」と言っている。		5:18 For the Scripture says, "You shall not muzzle the ox when it treads out the grain." {Deuteronomy 25:4} And, "The laborer is worthy of his wages." {Luke 10:7; Leviticus 19:13}
5:19長老に対する訴訟は、ふたりか三人の証人がない場合には、受理してはならない。		5:19 Don't receive an accusation against an elder, except at the word of two or three witnesses.
5:20罪を犯した者に対しては、ほかの人々も恐れをいだくに至るために、すべての人の前でその罪をとがむべきである。		5:20 Those who sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear.
5:21わたしは、神とキリスト・イエスと選ばれた御使たちとの前で、おごそかにあなたに命じる。これらのことを偏見なしに守り、何事についても、不公平な仕方をしてはならない。		5:21 I command you in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the chosen angels, that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.
5:22軽々しく人に手をおいてはならない。また、ほかの人の罪に加わってはいけない。自分をきよく守りなさい。		5:22 Lay hands hastily on no one, neither be a participant in other men's sins. Keep yourself pure.
5:23（これからは、水ばかりを飲まないで、胃のため、また、たびたびのいたみを和らげるために、少量のぶどう酒を用いなさい。）		5:23 Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities.
5:24ある人の罪は明白であって、すぐ裁判にかけられるが、ほかの人の罪は、あとになってわかって来る。		5:24 Some men's sins are evident, preceding them to judgment, and some also follow later.
5:25それと同じく、良いわざもすぐ明らかになり、そうならない場合でも、隠れていることはあり得ない。		5:25 In the same way also there are good works that are obvious, and those that are otherwise can't be hidden.
6:1くびきの下にある奴隷はすべて、自分の主人を、真に尊敬すべき者として仰ぐべきである。それは、神の御名と教とが、そしりを受けないためである。		6:1 Let as many as are bondservants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be blasphemed.
6:2信者である主人を持っている者たちは、その主人が兄弟であるというので軽視してはならない。むしろ、ますます励んで仕えるべきである。その益を受ける主人は、信者であり愛されている人だからである。あなたは、これらの事を教えかつ勧めなさい。		6:2 Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
6:3もし違ったことを教えて、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの健全な言葉、ならびに信心にかなう教に同意しないような者があれば、		6:3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine, and doesn't consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,
6:4彼は高慢であって、何も知らず、ただ論議と言葉の争いとに病みついている者である。そこから、ねたみ、争い、そしり、さいぎの心が生じ、		6:4 he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, insulting, evil suspicions,
6:5また知性が腐って、真理にそむき、信心を利得と心得る者どもの間に、はてしのないいがみ合いが起るのである。		6:5 constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such. {NU omits "Withdraw yourself from such."}
6:6しかし、信心があって足ることを知るのは、大きな利得である。		6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
6:7わたしたちは、何ひとつ持たないでこの世にきた。また、何ひとつ持たないでこの世を去って行く。		6:7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can't carry anything out.
6:8ただ衣食があれば、それで足れりとすべきである。		6:8 But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
6:9富むことを願い求める者は、誘惑と、わなとに陥り、また、人を滅びと破壊とに沈ませる、無分別な恐ろしいさまざまの情欲に陥るのである。		6:9 But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.
6:10金銭を愛することは、すべての悪の根である。ある人々は欲ばって金銭を求めたため、信仰から迷い出て、多くの苦痛をもって自分自身を刺しとおした。		6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
6:11しかし、神の人よ。あなたはこれらの事を避けなさい。そして、義と信心と信仰と愛と忍耐と柔和とを追い求めなさい。		6:11 But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.
6:12信仰の戦いをりっぱに戦いぬいて、永遠のいのちを獲得しなさい。あなたは、そのために召され、多くの証人の前で、りっぱなあかしをしたのである。		6:12 Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.
6:13わたしはすべてのものを生かして下さる神のみまえと、またポンテオ・ピラトの面前でりっぱなあかしをなさったキリスト・イエスのみまえで、あなたに命じる。		6:13 I command you before God, who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate testified the good confession,
6:14わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの出現まで、その戒めを汚すことがなく、また、それを非難のないように守りなさい。		6:14 that you keep the commandment without spot, blameless, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ;
6:15時がくれば、祝福に満ちた、ただひとりの力あるかた、もろもろの王の王、もろもろの主の主が、キリストを出現させて下さるであろう。		6:15 which in its own times he will show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
6:16神はただひとり不死を保ち、近づきがたい光の中に住み、人間の中でだれも見た者がなく、見ることもできないかたである。ほまれと永遠の支配とが、神にあるように、アァメン。		6:16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and eternal power. Amen.
6:17この世で富んでいる者たちに、命じなさい。高慢にならず、たよりにならない富に望みをおかず、むしろ、わたしたちにすべての物を豊かに備えて楽しませて下さる神に、のぞみをおくように、		6:17 Charge those who are rich in this present world that they not be haughty, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy;
6:18また、良い行いをし、良いわざに富み、惜しみなく施し、人に分け与えることを喜び、		6:18 that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
6:19こうして、真のいのちを得るために、未来に備えてよい土台を自分のために築き上げるように、命じなさい。		6:19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.
6:20テモテよ。あなたにゆだねられていることを守りなさい。そして、俗悪なむだ話と、偽りの「知識」による反対論とを避けなさい。		6:20 Timothy, guard that which is committed to you, turning away from the empty chatter and oppositions of the knowledge which is falsely so called;
6:21ある人々はそれに熱中して、信仰からそれてしまったのである。恵みが、あなたがたと共にあるように。		6:21 which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with you. Amen.
