| 2:12悪の道からあなたを救い、偽りをいう者から救う。 | 2:12 to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things; | |

| 3:1わが子よ、わたしの教を忘れず、わたしの戒めを心にとめよ。 | 3:1 My son, don't forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments: | |
| 3:2そうすれば、これはあなたの日を長くし、命の年を延べ、あなたに平安を増し加える。 | 3:2 for length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to you. | |

| 3:11わが子よ、主の懲らしめを軽んじてはならない、その戒めをきらってはならない。 | 3:11 My son, don't despise Yahweh's discipline, neither be weary of his reproof: | |
| 3:12主は、愛する者を、戒められるからである、あたかも父がその愛する子を戒めるように。 | 3:12 for whom Yahweh loves, he reproves; even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights. | |
| 3:13知恵を求めて得る人、悟りを得る人はさいわいである。 | 3:13 Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding. | |
| 3:14知恵によって得るものは、銀によって得るものにまさり、その利益は精金よりも良いからである。 | 3:14 For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold. | |

| 6:11それゆえ、貧しさは盗びとのようにあなたに来り、乏しさは、つわもののようにあなたに来る。 | 6:11 so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man. | |
| 6:12よこしまな人、悪しき人は偽りの言葉をもって行きめぐり、 | 6:12 A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth; | |
| 6:13目でめくばせし、足で踏み鳴らし、指で示し、 | 6:13 who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers; | |
| 6:14よこしまな心をもって悪を計り、絶えず争いをおこす。 | 6:14 in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord. | |
| 6:15それゆえ、災は、にわかに彼に臨み、たちまちにして打ち敗られ、助かることはない。 | 6:15 Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy. | |
| 6:16主の憎まれるものが六つある、否、その心に、忌みきらわれるものが七つある。 | 6:16 There are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him: | |

| 6:31もし捕えられたなら、その七倍を償い、その家の貨財を、ことごとく出さなければならない。 | 6:31 but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house. | |
| 6:32女と姦淫を行う者は思慮がない。これを行う者はおのれを滅ぼし、 | 6:32 He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul. | |

| 8:4「人々よ、わたしはあなたがたに呼ばわり、声をあげて人の子らを呼ぶ。 | 8:4 "To you men, I call! I send my voice to the sons of mankind. | |
| 8:5思慮のない者よ、悟りを得よ、愚かな者よ、知恵を得よ。 | 8:5 You simple, understand prudence. You fools, be of an understanding heart. | |
| 8:6聞け、わたしは高貴な事を語り、わがくちびるは正しい事を語り出す。 | 8:6 Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things. | |

| 19:14家と富とは先祖からうけつぐもの、賢い妻は主から賜わるものである。 | 19:14 House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh. | |
| 19:15怠りは人を熟睡させる、なまけ者は飢える。 | 19:15 Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep. The idle soul shall suffer hunger. | |
| 19:16戒めを守る者は自分の魂を守る、み言葉を軽んじる者は死ぬ。 | 19:16 He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, but he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die. | |
| 19:17貧しい者をあわれむ者は主に貸すのだ、その施しは主が償われる。 | 19:17 He who has pity on the poor lends to Yahweh; he will reward him. | |

| 19:19怒ることの激しい者は罰をうける、たとい彼を救ってやっても、さらにくり返さねばならない。 | 19:19 A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty, for if you rescue him, you must do it again. | |
| 19:20勧めを聞き、教訓をうけよ、そうすれば、ついには知恵ある者となる。 | 19:20 Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end. | |
| 19:21人の心には多くの計画がある、しかしただ主の、み旨だけが堅く立つ。 | 19:21 There are many plans in a man's heart, but Yahweh's counsel will prevail. | |
| 19:22人に望ましいのは、いつくしみ深いことである、貧しい人は偽りをいう人にまさる。 | 19:22 That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar. | |
| 19:23主を恐れることは人を命に至らせ、常に飽き足りて、災にあうことはない。 | 19:23 The fear of Yahweh leads to life, then contentment; he rests and will not be touched by trouble. | |
| 19:24なまけ者は、手を皿に入れても、それを口に持ってゆくことをしない。 | 19:24 The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not so much as bring it to his mouth again. | |
| 19:25あざける者を打て、そうすれば思慮のない者も慎む。さとき者を戒めよ、そうすれば彼は知識を得る。 | 19:25 Flog a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge. | |
| 19:26父に乱暴をはたらき、母を追い出す者は、恥をきたらし、はずかしめをまねく子である。 | 19:26 He who robs his father and drives away his mother, is a son who causes shame and brings reproach. | |

| 20:10互に違った二種のはかり、二種のますは、ひとしく主に憎まれる。 | 20:10 Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh. | |
| 20:11幼な子でさえも、その行いによって自らを示し、そのすることの清いか正しいかを現す。 | 20:11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right. | |
| 20:12聞く耳と、見る目とは、ともに主が造られたものである。 | 20:12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Yahweh has made even both of them. | |
| 20:13眠りを愛してはならない、そうすれば貧しくなる、目を開け、そうすればパンに飽くことができる。 | 20:13 Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread. | |

| 20:21初めに急いで得た資産は、その終りがさいわいでない。 | 20:21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning, won't be blessed in the end. | |
| 20:22「わたしが悪に報いる」と言ってはならない、主を待ち望め、主はあなたを助けられる。 | 20:22 Don't say, "I will pay back evil." Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you. | |
| 20:23互に違った二種のふんどうは主に憎まれる、偽りのはかりは良くない。 | 20:23 Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing. | |
| 20:24人の歩みは主によって定められる、人はどうして自らその道を、明らかにすることができようか。 | 20:24 A man's steps are from Yahweh; how then can man understand his way? | |
| 20:25軽々しく「これは聖なるささげ物だ」と言い、また誓いを立てて後に考えることは、その人のわなとなる。 | 20:25 It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows. | |
| 20:26知恵ある王は、箕をもってあおぎ分けるように悪人を散らし、車をもって脱穀するように、これを罰する。 | 20:26 A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them. | |
| 20:27人の魂は主のともしびであり、人の心の奥を探る。 | 20:27 The spirit of man is Yahweh's lamp, searching all his innermost parts. | |
| 20:28いつくしみと、まこととは王を守る、その位もまた正義によって保たれる。 | 20:28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love. | |
| 20:29若い人の栄えはその力、老人の美しさはそのしらがである。 | 20:29 The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair. | |
| 20:30傷つくまでに打てば悪い所は清くなり、むちで打てば心の底までも清まる。 | 20:30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the innermost parts. | |
| 21:1王の心は、主の手のうちにあって、水の流れのようだ、主はみこころのままにこれを導かれる。 | 21:1 The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. | |
| 21:2人の道は自分の目には正しく見える、しかし主は人の心をはかられる。 | 21:2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. | |
| 21:3正義と公平を行うことは、犠牲にもまさって主に喜ばれる。 | 21:3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice. | |
| 21:4高ぶる目とおごる心とは、悪しき人のともしびであって、罪である。 | 21:4 A high look, and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin. | |
| 21:5勤勉な人の計画は、ついにその人を豊かにする、すべて怠るものは貧しくなる。 | 21:5 The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty. | |
| 21:6偽りの舌をもって宝を得るのは、吹きはらわれる煙、死のわなである。 | 21:6 Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death. | |
| 21:7悪しき者の暴虐はその身を滅ぼす、彼らは公平を行うことを好まないからである。 | 21:7 The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right. | |
| 21:8罪びとの道は曲っている、潔白な人の行いはまっすぐである。 | 21:8 The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright. | |
| 21:9争いを好む女と一緒に家におるよりは屋根のすみにおるほうがよい。 | 21:9 It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than to share a house with a contentious woman. | |
| 21:10悪しき者の魂は悪を行うことを願う、その隣り人にも好意をもって見られない。 | 21:10 The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes. | |
| 21:11あざけるものが罰をうけるならば、思慮のない者は知恵を得る。知恵ある者が教をうけるならば知識を得る。 | 21:11 When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge. | |
| 21:12正しい神は、悪しき者の家をみとめて、悪しき者を滅びに投げいれられる。 | 21:12 The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin. | |
| 21:13耳を閉じて貧しい者の呼ぶ声を聞かない者は、自分が呼ぶときに、聞かれない。 | 21:13 Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard. | |
| 21:14ひそかな贈り物は憤りをなだめる、ふところのまいないは激しい怒りを和らげる。 | 21:14 A gift in secret pacifies anger; and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath. | |
| 21:15公義を行うことは、正しい者には喜びであるが、悪を行う者には滅びである。 | 21:15 It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity. | |
| 21:16悟りの道を離れる人は、死人の集会の中におる。 | 21:16 The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the dead. | |

| 21:23口と舌とを守る者はその魂を守って、悩みにあわせない。 | 21:23 Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles. | |
| 21:24高ぶりおごる者を「あざける者」となづける、彼は高慢無礼な行いをするものである。 | 21:24 The proud and haughty man, "scoffer" is his name; he works in the arrogance of pride. | |
| 21:25なまけ者の欲望は自分の身を殺す、これはその手を働かせないからである。 | 21:25 The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor. | |
| 21:26悪しき者はひねもす人の物をむさぼる、正しい者は与えて惜しまない。 | 21:26 There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don't withhold. | |

| 21:31戦いの日のために馬を備える、しかし勝利は主による。 | 21:31 The horse is prepared for the day of battle; but victory is with Yahweh. | |
| 22:1令名は大いなる富にまさり、恩恵は銀や金よりも良い。 | 22:1 A good name is more desirable than great riches, and loving favor is better than silver and gold. | |
| 22:2富める者と貧しい者とは共に世におる、すべてこれを造られたのは主である。 | 22:2 The rich and the poor have this in common: Yahweh is the maker of them all. | |
| 22:3賢い者は災を見て自ら避け、思慮のない者は進んでいって、罰をうける。 | 22:3 A prudent man sees danger, and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it. | |
| 22:4謙遜と主を恐れることとの報いは、富と誉と命とである。 | 22:4 The result of humility and the fear of Yahweh is wealth, honor, and life. | |
| 22:5よこしまな者の道にはいばらとわながあり、たましいを守る者は遠くこれを離れる。 | 22:5 Thorns and snares are in the path of the wicked: whoever guards his soul stays from them. | |
| 22:6子をその行くべき道に従って教えよ、そうすれば年老いても、それを離れることがない。 | 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. | |
| 22:7富める者は貧しき者を治め、借りる者は貸す人の奴隷となる。 | 22:7 The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender. | |
| 22:8悪をまく者は災を刈り、その怒りのつえはすたれる。 | 22:8 He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed. | |
| 22:9人を見て恵む者はめぐまれる、自分のパンを貧しい人に与えるからである。 | 22:9 He who has a generous eye will be blessed; for he shares his food with the poor. | |
| 22:10あざける者を追放すれば争いもまた去り、かつ、いさかいも、はずかしめもなくなる。 | 22:10 Drive out the mocker, and strife will go out; yes, quarrels and insults will stop. | |
| 22:11心の潔白を愛する者、その言葉の上品な者は、王がその友となる。 | 22:11 He who loves purity of heart and speaks gracefully is the king's friend. | |
| 22:12主の目は知識ある者を守る、しかし主は不信実な者の言葉を敗られる。 | 22:12 The eyes of Yahweh watch over knowledge; but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful. | |
| 22:13なまけ者は言う、「ししがそとにいる、わたしは、ちまたで殺される」と。 | 22:13 The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside! I will be killed in the streets!" | |
| 22:14遊女の口は深い落し穴である、主に憎まれる者はその中に陥る。 | 22:14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit: he who is under Yahweh's wrath will fall into it. | |
| 22:15愚かなことが子供の心の中につながれている、懲らしめのむちは、これを遠く追いだす。 | 22:15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child: the rod of discipline drives it far from him. | |
| 22:16貧しい者をしえたげて自分の富を増そうとする者と、富める者に与える者とは、ついに必ず貧しくなる。 | 22:16 Whoever oppresses the poor for his own increase and whoever gives to the rich, both come to poverty. | |
| 22:17あなたの耳を傾けて知恵ある者の言葉を聞き、かつ、わたしの知識にあなたの心を用いよ。 | 22:17 Turn your ear, and listen to the words of the wise. Apply your heart to my teaching. | |
